Between the place itself, and the service, El Paraiso is terrific!

What a gem of a place El Paraiso is! The cabin was spotless and comfortable. It's in a quiet location, and the breakfast is really great. What makes this place special is the service. The owner Dan is very helpful, and really wants you to enjoy your stay. He seems to know everyone in town (he was willing to work with the local pharmacy to get me a prescription that I needed when my luggage was lost by the airline), and has tons of good advice on what to see and experience in the Uvita area. We booked a mangrove tour in Sierpe that was incredible through Dan. His restaurant recommendations were spot on as well. BTW, there is an excellent restaurant right across the street from El Paraiso. I can't recommend this place enough!

Exceptional place

Dan and Sue made me feel like family before I even showed up. Dan directed me to the local attractions Catarata waterfall is walking distance and playa hermona beach is a short ride. Dan also made a breakfast for me to take on the road, because I had to leave extremely early to make it to the airport.

Dan and Sue are the BEST hosts! They took care of everything from a hot breakfast, comfy cabin and even a lift to the store for a few groceries. The property is also in a perfect location for walking to the waterfalls, butterfly garden and bamboo forest.

Best lodging!

Loved the gorgeous wooden cabins, super clean and cozy. The town was laid back and so peaceful. Tons of restaurants, the falls was amazing, beaches and sunsets fantastic, breakfast was the huge and delicious. And huge thanks to amazing hosts, Dan worked hard to provide the best deals on tours in town and made fabulous food recommendations and Sue gave great insight and conversation, I am so grateful for the experience and hope to return for longer next time!!

I wish to come back!

The owner Dan and his wife are really amazing couple and they do everything for you. We stayed 2 nights and we really enjoyed it. Dan helped us with Covid test, he reccomended good restaurants and amazing trip to Sierpe when you can watch all animals. Also 5 minutes walks you have very nice waterfall where you can swim in fresh water. The breakfast we had was the best in Costa Rica. You feel here like you visit friends becouse everything is so comfy and atmosphere like home. I hope we come back here one day again. Thank you for everything!

A special place!

El Paraiso is just that - a little piece of paradise! Really well built and unique cabins. Only three to choose from so it is a quiet place to be. Delicious breakfast and a close walk to other restaurants. Dan & Sue are super attentive and ready if you have any questions or requests. We loved that we could walk to the waterfalls, the butterfly farm, the bamboo forest. We are grateful that this place popped up on Booking.com.

This is vacation how it's supposed to be

Wow, wow, wow!! This was such a great stay. Loved and enjoyed it to the fullest. Location is perfect: within walking distance you reach the waterfall and several restaurants, cafés, supermarkets... It's also great located for doing tours, driving to the beach (less than 10 min). Regarding the owner this was just superb. Dan and his wife were so lovely, we became friends in an instant. They were giving many recommendations, were asking for feedback, if I needed anything else - just perfect. The bungalow itself was also great, nice AC, very clean, loved the hammock, they also have an outdoor shower which I used a few times. Breakfast was good. I felt very safe in the place. So it was just a brilliant stay! Thanks again for everything!

This is place is simple... the paradise

Everything, absolutely everything was perfect. Great location, very close to all the important spots. And the hospitality is best! The hosts, Dan and his wife, are two lovely and amazing hosts. Clean, comfortable and relaxing.!

We loved staying at "El Paraiso". The cabin where we slept for two nights had a bedroom, sink, small fridge, a bathroom and a porch. There are sufficient tables, chairs in the space: cozy but not cluttered. It's all wood (except the shower, that has tiles) in excellent condition. Internet connectivity was very good about 50 Mbps download, 8 Mbps upload. Very stable. You can use the air conditioning, or let opened the windows (they have screens) and the fresh breeze coming down from the mountains to refresh you. We always are very critic of the mattress: This one was good. No complaints at all. The breakfast was good: fresh and lovely presented. The property has a parking lot and sufficient security measures. Please note that is not next to the beach: The highlights are that you have a closer view of the range at the east, you'll hear a lot of birds in the morning, a river with beautiful pools is 700 meters away (look for Cascada Verde), and is more quiet. There's a nice brewery which sells their products in site: I can recommend it. Also there's a wine/sushi restaurant next El Paraiso. We were met by the owners and they were helpful, kind and warm: In these times of social distancing we appreciated so much that human touch. There are a lot of possible activities to do and beaches to visit on the area, and this place is a good spot to use as a base, and relaxing. Disliked · The only thing I missed was a line cloth: If you rinse your swimsuit after enjoying the sea, you might want to let them hang on a line cloth.!

Felt like home!

We stayed here before and after drake bay. Dan is an excellent host. He really made my birthday special. The cabin is lovely. It was the best shower that I have had abroad. We ate at Mosiac-3x. It was that good. It is an easy walk from the cabins. Uvita is just south of Dominical and north of Ojochal. We preferred this whole area to the hustle and bustle of Manuel Antonio. If you want to do the whale tale, get there super early. That was chaotic.

Bungalow spotlessly clean with great attention to detail (e.g lots of sockets, hooks, shelving, hanging space etc) Estrella, the maid was lovely. She served us delicious breakfast each morning and cleaned the bungalow. Dan, the owner was extremely helpful in setting up a guide for us and recommending things to do locally. It was an easy, short walk to local restaurants and there were some other lovely walks nearby (we did quite a bit of exploring on foot as we had no car) Disliked · Very small plot surrounded by a high hibiscus hedge meant there were no views. Also, didn’t like the bunk bed over our double bed (but we were aware of that)

Best place to stay!

We are here for a week but did not need to wait to write review. We are in love with this place. Cabinas are clean and well maintained and have everything you need. Breakfast is amazing. The owners are expats from the US so no problems with communication for us. They know the area well and happily give us loads of information about things to see, do, eat, etc. Dan is even known to drive you places if needed! Thanks for the fabulous stay and best wishes to Dan and Sue. Happy to call you friends!

Wonderful

The host, Dan, was very helpful and the staff on site were also very nice and welcoming. The cabin is so nice and the wifi is very good. It was a really nice place to stay and would definitely recommend it.

The hotel is a little far away from the beach, if you haven't got a car it makes the stay a bit more difficult. You can get cabs pretty easily.

One of the friendliest and cleanest places

Just wonderful. We definitely recommend the B&B, the hosts and Uvita.

Our hosts, Dan and Sue, were just wonderful. We enjoyed talking to them a lot. They helped us getting around and organized restaurants, surf lessons etc. for us. The breakfast was great and different each morning - including delicious fruit bowles. The room was very nice and clean. Everything was just perfect and we very much enjoyed being there for three nights. Thanks a lot to Dan and Sue. We definitely recommend the B&B as well as the great hosts.

Home away from Home

The hosts were extremely welcoming and accommodating. The gardens were full of flowers and birds with the hummingbirds stopping to pose for you. The cabin was extremely private and comfortable allowing us a great nights sleep. Inside the cabins are like a pine cabin in the woods. The bathroom and shower are clean with good water pressure and hot water. The breakfast was beautifully presented and prepared. This place is highly recommended.

Great lovingly furnished accommodation

Dan, the owner, is super nice if we even met him by chat. But the on-site staff is great as well. Delicious breakfast! The cottage itself is lovingly furnished. A/C and fan work excellently and the beds are super comfortable. You pay a bit more for that, but it's worth it. You can walk to the really great waterfall. There you can also slide down the waterfall. Best to be there right at 8 in the morning. Basically, you can go up directly in the bath kit and only take money and towel with you.

Very nice with authentic, Caribbean flair

This accommodation makes you feel comfortable all around. It immediately gives a good mood, because the hosts and the complex are just great. The proximity to the national park is very convenient. This also wakes you up by the howling monkeys, which add to the crown.The rooms are clean and simply furnished, with plenty of storage space and are cleaned daily.All in all highly recommended.

Cahuita itself is a place where you can absolutely get down.

Very pleasant stay in El Paraiso

We were warmly received by maid Estrella.

She has served us well every morning with good breakfast, the room was clean every day and she is also a very friendly and cordial woman.

Rolando, the property manager, also came by every day to see everything went well and also someone you could have fun and interesting conversations with.

El paraiso is a perfect and peaceful place to stay in beautiful Uvita.

Interesting fact is that at about 800 meters walking there is already a waterfall where you can swim.

We would certainly return to El paraiso.

Excellent quiet accommodation

Dan and Sue welcomed us warmly in 2 cabanas in the garden around their house. Clean, comfortable, well equipped, there is not much to say about this accommodation. Terrace with table, chairs and a hammock of course. Nice pergola with 2 tables where breakfast is served.

A waterfall with its bathtubs about a 1/4 hour walk: enough to refresh yourself and take nice photos.

3 restaurants nearby, convenient to eat on foot.

High standard

Excellent in every way

Very good location, restaurants nearby, and a sushi restaurant within walking distance. Secure car space with gate.

A very warm welcome by the owners Dan and his wife, a very human american couple with whom we sympathized, caring and good advice for the rest of our trip to Costa Rica, not speaking too much English or Spanish, Dan the owner was kind enough to make some phone reservations for us.The room was very charming, very clean and the bed comfortable, the terrace pleasant with a neat exterior, a nice surprise on our arrival, because it gives better in reality than in the photo.

For breakfast it was good and complete, they take the trouble to ask if there are any intolerances or preferences in advance.

We are delighted to be through this property and delighted to know the owners, we highly recommend it if you go through uvita.

Excellent accommodation

The hosts Dan & Sue are incredibly helpful and accommodating. Since we didn't have our own car, Dan offered to drive us to the beach or wherever. At breakfast you can decide the time yourself. So we always had a perfect breakfast. Your accommodation is very well maintained and the Bungalows very large and clean.

Nice, excellent service but somewhat uncomfortable bed cabin

Mrs. Estrella attended us to our needs regarding the breakfast which was exquisite.

The bed with a cabin was uncomfortable as there is a risk of hitting your head when you get up which happened. We suggest suppressing it mainly when it's only a couple when hiring the bungalow as was our case.

Perfect start to our trip

It was all you needed. The log cabin was well equipped and the warm water did a good job in the unfortunately bad weather. The care was attentive but not intrusive and the breakfast very good.

Since we only spent one night here, there is nothing to complain about! All good!

Best in Uvita!

Dan, our host, was very helpful and flexible, he helped us book things to do and gave us valuable tips about the area. Particularly noteworthy is the great breakfast that Estrella prepared for us. All in all, we can't imagine a better place to stay for a stay in Uvita. Directly opposite is a really delicious restaurant (Mosaic) and a very nice waterfall within walking distance. The bungalow is also very well equipped, clean and comfortable. We did not miss anything. Absolute recommendation!

Nice and good hotel

Nice and nice, clean houses. Dan was very kind and helpful. He made sure that we could do a whale tour and we were allowed to have breakfast early and he drove ahead so we did not have to find the way. We were allowed to leave our luggage with him until we got back.

Nice breakfast and opposite a super good restaurant (Mosaic)! The waterfall is easily reachable on foot.

Excellent!

The location is great: walking distance from the center of town with a number of nice restaurants and stores, a short walk from a beautiful waterfall where you can swim, and a short drive to beaches, the national park, and more. The facilities are clean and spacious and have a beautiful view of the mountains. The breakfast is tasty (with excellent coffee). Last, but not least, Dan and Sue are amazing hosts. I have rarely encountered such hospitality in my travels. As one of many examples of this hospitality, before I got my own car, Dan was kind enough to drive me to the car rental agency and show me around town in his car. (As a bit of general advice for Uvita, I do recommend getting a rental car because the town and sights are a bit spread out.)

I have nothing negative to say about El Paraiso.

Wonderful!

Dan and Sue were such warm and welcoming hosts, they really made it an unforgettable experience.

The cabin was so well thought out, with all the amenities you’d need. Great touch having a hairdryer and coffee machine. There were plates, chopping boards and various bits of cutlery should you need them.

Great location, easy walk to restaurants, don’t miss Mosaic over the road and Sibu was lovely too. The waterfall nearby was just wonderful, as are all the other local attractions. Sunsets on the beach were magical. Uvita is a great place to stay, don’t miss it.

The best place ever!

El Paraiso was just lovely. We felt right at home, well taken care of and like we were part of the family right away. Dan and Sue are amazing hosts! Great Value, Quality and Service

Love the location, the cleanliness, the great pre-arrival and arrival attention, and the nice condition of the rooms and property. Well kept and all amenities were in working order. Great private feel as we rented both cabins and had the property to ourselves. Wonderful to wake up and see clouds on top of mountain views and hear Howler monkeys in the distance. Peaceful onsite garden and lovely breakfast prepared for us at a convenient time for us.

Some onsite yard workers and nearby neighborhood noises were noticeable in the afternoons, but overall it is a quiet property.

Wonderful little B&B

If you are in Uvita staying here is a must. The little bungalows are wonderful and equipped with a hammock on the verenda so that you can relax after a day out. The cabins are very clean and the whole place is kept very neat.

Dan is a wonderful and very knowledgable host. He has great recommendations for things to do and places to go out and eat in the area.

Breakfast is prepared just for you in the morning.

In the morning you are awakened by the sun and the sound of monkeys. It is just like the name says - a little paradise.

Very good location

El Paraiso is very well located in Uvita between the park Marino Bellena and the beautiful Playa Hermosa. There are good restaurants nearby (among them Mosaic) and a supermarket. The bungalows are very clean and confortable and a delicious breakfast was served every morning. Dan was incredibly helpful, he gave us many tips and advises, arranged excursions for us and made sure we were comfortably settled. Thank you so much for everything Dan!

Exceptional B&B

Dan was an extraordinary host - he helped us along with our stay in Uvita at any times and was a pleasure to chat with.

The place was neat and super clean, close to a spectacular waterfall, a cute bamboo forest and many good restaurants.

Great choice in Uvita

El Paraiso is in a great location, tons to do and plenty of good eats!

Dan! Dan is awesome and his recommendations for activities and restaurants were on point! We loved the ambiance, natural woodwork, and cleanliness. The remodeled cabins, and hot water and good pressure! Estrella is nice, attentive, and a great homemade breakfast chef! Dan was sure to check in before hand, had fresh water when we arrived, and the AC on in our room so it was fresh after long travel. Plus when we came with lunch leftovers, he reheated the food and plated it! They also checked if we had food allergies, which was very considerate! Would for sure stay again!

Lack of ventilation in the bathroom. We recommend a mesh screen on the window or a fan. All other windows have mesh screens, no worries.

This was a great experience. The owner Dan goes out of his way to make sure you have everything you need. He even showed me a club that I would've never found myself that had the best music and ambiance. El Paraiso is just down the road from a waterfall and everything is super close. Most importantly, it had hot water which I came to really appreciate after staying at a couple of other places! I think half the experience of a vacation is seeing what's not on the top 10 list. He did a really great job of letting you know what was off the beaten path and introducing you to what the lifestyle is really like. It was a fantastic place to stay and I would recommend it to anyone looking to visit the Uvita area.

Great place to relax in Uvita

The place was very clean and so pretty. The grounds are immaculately groomed. We enjoyed sitting on the porch in the evening after it cooled off. There’s a very nice wine bar and restaurant just across the road.

This is not really a dislike.....We had never been to the area so we thought we would be closer to the beach. My fault for not researching enough. This wasn’t a problem really, as we had a car but if you’re on foot it is a bit far.

Exactly what we needed and more!

Such an amazing place to stay! Perfect for all year round but especially Envisions Festival. Within walking distance to the center of town and the rooms were beautiful, clean, and comfortable. Everyone on staff was super helpful and we were greeted with yummy breakfast every morning. Would absolutely recommend to anyone going to Uvita!

We loved the place! Dan Casey has a GEM in Uvita!

The staff, Rolando and Estrella, are wonderful!! They were very attentive to our needs, and Rolando gave great advice on local highlights. Estrella's English is spotty, my Spanish is not good at all, and my gf Pat's Spanish is passable, but Estrella is efficient and quick with her phone's translator. Of course, you can also use yours, LOL!

The rooms are air-conditioned, clean, and cleaned every day. Laundry service is available for a nominal fee. Appliances are modern. The grounds are well-manicured and beautiful. Breakfast, served by Estrella, was delicious - fruit, eggs, toast, coffee, juice, etc. The water is potable right from the tap, fresh from the mountains!

The location is perfect. Just a few minutes' walk from Uvita center, it's quiet but close enough to get to restaurants (the Mosaic, across the street, is delightful), shops, groceries, pharmacy, the bank.... Nice view of the mountains from the front of our place. I would recommend renting a car to get to destinations (and there are MANY!!) away from town. I used Adobe in Uvita (call ahead). I would also recommend getting a 4x4/AWD vehicle because once you get off the main highway, roads go to dirt quickly. They were quite passable in the dry season, but some were bumpy and steep.

I would love to go back - it's on the bucket list for sure. I could go on and on, but I truly cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay.

There was nothing we did not like.

Gorgeous small hotel that is welcoming and comfortable.

The room and garden are extremely well maintained and picturesque with the owners, Danny and Sue, clearly having taken great care in creating a welcoming environment. The bed is extremely comfortable, so you are guaranteed a good nights sleep and the breakfast is excellent.

The fact that we were only able to spend one night there.

Grea hosts and very nice room

Dan and Sue are amazing hosts. They are very friendly and give great insights about the region (nice beaches, restaurants, tours, etc). Before we arrived, we were even asked whether we would like to find drinks in the fridge. And on our second day, we even had dinner with them.

Also, the room was very nice and clean and we didn‘t miss anything. In case we will return to Uvita, we will definitely stay at El Paraiso again.
